I am proud to announce that Riley Chien has successfully defended his PhD thesis, “Fermion Encodings and Algorithms for Quantum Simulation.” Riley’s thesis work addressed the complexities of simulating fermionic systems on quantum computers, developing innovative encoding schemes to improve resource efficiency and error mitigation. His work also explored tensor network algorithms, shedding new light on computational approaches to quantum many-body systems. We wish Riley the best as he embarks on his postdoctoral journey at Sandia National Laboratories!
