Dr. Kanav Setia successfully defended his thesis; a first for the Whitfield group. Kanav’s thesis was titled “Fermionic Quantum Simulation“. During his time in our group, his research largely focuses on fermionic quantum simulation and how to increase its efficiency on quantum computers. In particular, Kanav worked on two fermion-to-spin encodings, Bravyi-Kitaev superfast encoding (BKSF) and the generalized superfast encoding (GSE). In addition to studying their error mitigation properties, Kanav also incorporated point group symmetries into our molecular simulations. We are proud of our first graduating PhD student and we wish him nothing but the best at qbraid.com
