New paper “Fermionic Insights into Measurement-Based Quantum Computation” (arXiv:2510.05557)

Congratulations to Brent Harrison on his recent paper, Fermionic Insights into Measurement-Based Quantum Computation: Circle Graph States are not Universal Resources. This work develops a mapping between Gaussian fermionic states and an important class of stabilizer states, known as circle graph states. Using this mapping, the authors resolve an open question and show that circle graph states, despite their expressivity, are not universal resources for MBQC. It is anticipated that this connection between free fermions and stabilizer states may have broader applications in the future.
